Upgrading my laptop SSD

On my desktop I went from a 128GB SSD to a 256GB SSD. Here are the steps:

Get Tuxboot

From here : http://tuxboot.org/installation/

Run Tuxboot

Plug in a USB drive and select that:

Click OK. This will prime the USB to be bootable with clonezilla which will allow you to clone the old disk to the new one.

Install both disks on the desktop

Just plug them in.

Boot from usb

Boot from the usb made by Tux Box. Just select “device to device”. Just follow the sane defaults for the rest.

Final notes

After booting with just the new disk (remove the old one), It all worked flowlessly. In fact I didn’t even need to call up Micrsoft and tell them to activate my windows again. Of course I formatted the old disk (otherwise Microsoft would get serial collisions and then I’d have to make that call).
