Just the steps I follow:
- Old Phone: Backup the old phone on a computer
- New Phone: Connect the new phone and restore from the backup
- New Phone : Add your organisations single sign on app on the new phone.
- Old Phone: Take a picture of the Battery health of the old phone (will help with resale).
- Old Phone: Sign out of the Apple Id (Should also automatically remove from “find my”).
- Old Phone: Erase (all content and settings) on the old phone.
Now sell the new phone :)
